Question 1: Who is SpotHero?
SpotHero is a digital parking reservation service that helps drivers find, reserve & access parking spots in 300+ cities across North America. This is done through the SpotHero app, available on the App Store and Google Play.
Additionally, SpotHero also offers corporate solutions to help employees pay for work-related parking expenses. Similarly, participants with a Commuter Benefit Plan can use their benefits card in the SpotHero app to pay for workplace commuting expenses.
Question 2: Who is Benefit Resource (BRI)?
Since 1993, BRI has provided pre-tax benefits (including Commuter Benefit Plans) and COBRA to companies across the United States. Additionally, BRI recently launched a digital wallet solution. This solution allows participants to connect their Beniversal® Prepaid Mastercard® to Apple Pay®, Google Pay®, and Samsung Pay® to make contactless payments.
Question 3: How have parking needs shifted with COVID-19?
Search demand for parking is growing because individuals are opting to drive to work rather than take public transportation. Compared to last year, SpotHero has seen a 33% increase in searches for monthly parking.
Additionally, employers are opting to help employees pay for parking. Often, this is by taking advantage of pre-tax savings available through a Commuter Benefit Plan.

Per IRS regulations, mass transit account contributions are separate from parking account contributions. Employers already offering commuter accounts can allow employees to direct new elections from a mass transit account into a parking account going forward.
