BRI Elevates Mastercard Partnership by Introducing HealthLock to Help Customers Protect Medical Data and Monitor Claims

ROCHESTER, NY — (October 17, 2023) — Benefit Resource LLC (BRI), a Millennium Trust solution and a leading provider of dedicated pre-tax account administration and COBRA services nationwide, announced today that it will offer HealthLock to its customers who use its Beniversal® Prepaid Mastercard®. This new platform helps protect cardholders’ medical data and monitors their medical claims for potential errors, fraud, and overbilling.

Data privacy and healthcare costs are top-of-mind issues for consumers. More than 60% of bankruptcies are directly caused by medical expenses (Source: RetireGuide), and up to 80% of medical bills contain errors (Source: The LBL Group). This new service seeks to alleviate some of the concerns and anxiety around these issues. BRI customers can now get help protecting their privacy, guarding against medical fraud, and reviewing their claims for accuracy. HealthLock continually monitors medical and prescription claims (as well as vision and dental, if requested) for cardholders who enroll.

Customers can also save money because HealthLock identifies possible errors, fraud, and overbilling via an automated auditing process. HealthLock auditors can negotiate on a BRI customer’s behalf to either lower costs or obtain a reimbursement, as well as verify that the maximum amount based on plan benefits is being applied to a consumer’s out-of-pocket costs and/or deductible.

BRI customers have had ID Theft Verification with their Beniversal® Prepaid Mastercard®, but HealthLock will add a layer of security and data visibility. ID Theft Verification monitors a Beniversal cardholder’s personal information on the dark web, social media and other databases that can indicate if a fraudster has a cardholder’s information. HealthLock monitors medical breach databases and alerts a member anytime it detects a breach at one of their providers. If their medical data has been stolen or misused, HealthLock will work on their behalf with payers and providers to restore accuracy to their medical record. By syncing with their insurance providers, HealthLock also monitors all of their healthcare (and vision or dental) claims to help make sure they are accurate and not fraudulent.

HealthLock offers three plan levels:

Medical Claim Monitor

  • Guards against medical fraud and privacy intrusions by monitoring medical data breaches
  • Provides alerts
  • Helps remediate medical fraud issues

Medical Claim Auditor

  • Organizes and track healthcare claims in one place
  • Verifies that all claims are accurate
  • Identifies possible overcharges and insurance errors
  • Includes all services in Medical Claim Monitor

Medical Claim Saver

  • Provides access to expert medical bill negotiation with providers and insurance companies to reduce bills and reverse claim rejections
  • Includes all services in Medical Claim Auditor

BRI Beniversal cardholders have free access to HealthLock’s Medical Claim Monitor  and a premium 90-day upgrade to Medical Claim Saver. A payment method is required in case the member decides to request bill negotiation services. HealthLock fees are not currently FSA or HSA eligible.

After the 90-day trial, cardholders continue to receive Medical Claim Monitor at no charge. They can opt-in to continue Medical Claim Auditor for $4.99/month. Or, opt to continue Medical Claim Saver, which includes all service features for $19.99/month. Bill negotiation services require a 33% shared savings fee only if savings are found.
